Overview
If you are creating or revising your disaster recovery plan, you need to build a plan that restores business continuity to the most important business functions and users as quickly and as reliably as possible. To create an optimised disaster recovery plan you need to:- Know which applications are the most important to the business and be able to transition them to the backup sites
- Know which users must have services restored first
- Understand which services (DNS servers, DHCP, etc.) those applications and users require to function properly at the backup sites
- Know which applications are used but will not be supported during the disaster recovery process
- Understand the bandwidth usage for each application - especially in cases where hot sites are distributed - as opposed to aggregate bandwidth data
- After the recovery, monitor any resources, users, and applications that did not make the transition or are not behaving as expected
Building your disaster recovery plan
Mazu enables you to:- Identify all the network-based applications running on your network
- Identify all the servers on your network
- Identify all the users on your network
- Understand application usage patterns, consumption rates, and dependencies:
- Who uses which applications or servers and when
- When the applications and servers are used (most often, least often, etc.)
- What the application dependencies are (which servers and network resources each application requires)
- You will determine which applications will be supported by your plan
- You will determine which users will be supported by your plan
- You will prioritise how users, applications, and services will be supported
- You will know the bandwidth requirements to support specific users and applications
After the recovery
Mazu enables you to:- Monitor application usage, server access, and traffic patterns in real time
- Compare current usage and traffic patterns to previous usage and traffic patterns and detect any major inconsistencies
- You will know if your disaster recovery restored the proper service to the intended users and applications
- You will proactively determine any issues or errors before they disrupt your business
