Problem: People like using Instant Messaging but it threatens business security
Allowing the uncontrolled use of Instant Messaging (IM) in a business environment is now widely recognised as creating a major threat to network and data security, yet the business benefits of IM which include improved personal productivity, reduced travel costs, lower environmental impact, diminished email & telephony usage and enhanced employee 'presence' visibility are undeniable.Solution: A private Presence Network
Presence Networks specialises in providing powerful, presence-capable communications tools including sophisticated 'Business Class Instant Messaging' with many plug-in options to support value added services such as free SIP calling, encryption, Remote & Roaming working capabilities and much more. An entry level Presence Networks Managed Service can be deployed across an organisation within a few hours - with little or no impact on existing infrastructure, minimal training and no new capital investment. With authentication, security and control built-in, a Presence Network will give your business all the advantages without compromising security - even when extended beyond your firewall to include key external users such as customers and suppliers. The secret is the system is hosted and the tiered administration allows control of who can connect to the system. So if you want it wide open, with gateways the public services you can do that, but you can also restrict access to just invited users, such as employees, selected customers and suppliers – wherever they are in the world.NetWorker - Business Class Instant Messaging
Presence Networks business class IM requires the use of a software client called NetWorker. It connects via a centralised instant messaging service and differs from email and other IM systems, in that conversations then happen in real-time over a secure 128bit SSL network as well as being recorded and encrypted for compliance and record keeping purposes. Most instant messaging applications also include the ability to set a Presence status" message. Presence Networks use these status messages to tell our advanced network what actions to take on behalf of the user if their status is set to Away, Busy, Unavailable, etc. The Presence Networks messaging engine uses a sophisticated and proprietary version of the XMPP protocol that requires very little bandwidth in some cases as low as 1Kbps for fast effective use by a user. It has built in API's to allow future connectivity to other systems such as CRM systems and other standard or proprietary systems and we shall be releasing SDK's in near future to allow external parties to write Plug-in applications or applications that can use the Presence Networks messaging engine for alternative converged communications. Other forms of messaging built in to the Presence Networks converged communications software as standard are Email, standard SMS, Encrypted SMS all of which can be turned on or off via a secure browser based User Management System by an authorised administrator.Partial Feature List
