The S2100-ES2 architecture features several innovations that enable it to deliver unparalleled speed, flexibility, and scalability. The Dynamic Disk File System (DFS) stores and restores both large and small data volumes with maximum efficiency. The DFS also automates capacity provisioning and performance optimization. The SEPATON I/O Subsystem (SiS) further enhances performance by handling I/O in “kernel space” instead of the inherently inefficient “user space” used by other technologies. Scalable Replication Engine (SRE®) nodes simplify performance scaling. Each SRE node provides two Fibre Channel communication paths into the backup environment as well as high-end processing and memory subsystems.
