VMware ESX Server Virtualisation and Consolidation logo

Introduction

ESX server, virtualising CPU, Memory, Hard disk and Network for virtual machines. ESX Server has been implemented to achieve a variety of goals ranging from server consolidation to disaster recovery.

By running multiple virtual servers on ESX Server(s), businesses are able to increase x86 server utilisation to 60%-80%. This has a direct cost saving in terms of TCO and system management. It also provides flexibility for load balancing and expansion in server numbers.

Disaster recovery costs can be greatly reduced, as each ESX server can host multiple servers, removing the need to have a 1:1 mapping of physical servers in the disaster recovery site.

ESX Server also brings speed and flexibility to provisioning of server. A virtual server can be made available in minutes, not hours, days or weeks. Servers no longer required are simply disabled and new servers activated. Servers that receive little use can be consolidated onto one ESX server that can host many, many low-load servers.

Solution Centre has implemented ESX Server within large organisations in the UK. We have the experience to ensure that you obtain the maximum benefit from ESX Server.
